Learning objectives

After completing the course, the student is able to
- use mathematics as a tool when making business-related decisions
- evaluate the validity of calculation results
- solve business-related mathematical problems both in a traditional way and with Excel.

- percentage calculations and its applications
- calculations concerning value added tax and its applications
- basics of contribution margin and pricing
- simple and compound interest
- indexes and value of money
- foreign currencies
- investment calculations
- Excel in business mathematics

Course is divided to
Traditional business math
and Business math with Excel

There are two classes a week (some exceptions may occur).
The first class is a theory class containing also some calculation examples and the second one is workshop class.
In workshop students are able to calculate weekly exercises and get guidance. Weekly exercises are published in Moodle at the same time with theory material.

There are two ways of getting a grade on this course:

1. Two intermediate exams
2. The final exam covering the whole course.
