Osaamistavoitteet
After completing the course, the student
- works according to the nursing values and principles in perioperative nursing
- applies knowledge in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a perioperative patient’s nursing care
- implements knowledge and mentoring when preparing a patient for surgical treatment and in postoperative monitoring and nursing care
- examines, monitors and maintains a perioperative patient’s vital functions
- knows the principles of infection prevention and control
- has good perioperative nursing skills and can use the required instruments and equipment correctly and safely
- masters safe perioperative medication, fluid therapy and blood transfusion and can perform drug calculations accurately
- guides and mentors the patient and relatives at various stages of the perioperative nursing process
- implements and assesses multi-professional co-operation in perioperative nursing
- is able to assess and develops his or her perioperative nursing skills
- reflect his or her own learning and development

Esitietovaatimukset
The theoretical perioperative nursing courses and skills workshops must be completed/started. The completion of simulation will be agreed upon with each group at the beginning of the theoretical course. If the internship takes place before the internship of Medical Nursing, the courses that must be completed before the start of this internship are the same as those for the internship of Medical Nursing in addition to the ones mentioned earlier.
