Learning objectives
The aim of this course is to provide you with the theoretical foundations of coaching, as well as practical coaching skills for effective interacting with individuals in a working environment.
By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of coaching, you will learn a lot about yourself, you will develop ability to reflect and you will be able to conduct a coaching session with an individual using basic coaching skills.
Additionally, you will learn coaching tools and approaches that will establish a foundation for your future eclectic coaching style.
Content
In recent years, coaching has become increasingly popular as a means of developing employees and enhancing organisational performance. There is a growing need for staff to learn and develop coaching approaches in their day-to-day working life to enhance their self-awareness and confidence, and to pursue personal and professional development staying focus and motivated towards achieving their goals. Developing coaching mindset can also help to improve communication and cooperation skills both within and outside the team.
The course will consist of following parts:
- Coaching history and definition
- Reflections styles, Driscoll model
- Coaching principles, structure, approaches and tools
- Supervision (groups)
- Professional Bodies and coaching ethics
- Cross-cultural coaching theory

All the learning materials will be provided by the teacher on Moodle.

There is a growing need for staff to learn and develop coaching approaches in their day-to-day working life to enhance their self-awareness and confidence, and to pursue personal and professional development staying focus and motivated towards achieving their goals. Developing coaching mindset can also help to improve communication and cooperation skills both within and outside the team.
The aim of this course is to provide you with the theoretical foundations of coaching, as well as practical coaching skills for effective interacting with individuals in a working environment.
By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of coaching, you will learn a lot about yourself, you will develop ability to reflect and you will be able to conduct a coaching session with an individual using basic coaching skills.
Additionally, you will learn coaching tools and approaches that will establish a foundation for your future eclectic coaching style.
The course format is designed to be face-to-face workshops.
The course will have a well balanced theoretical and practical parts. You will be matched in working pairs to practice coaching tools.
The completion method of the course will consist of:
- being present in the face to face sessions as there will not be recordings done
- a critical reflective essey written using your reflections from the "course journey"
- completing a test (scoring minimum 51%) focusing on the theory of coaching
Student workload
As the course is 3 ECTS it assumes around 80h of work load, up to 30h of these will be theory and practice during the workshop, the rest of it will be your own work outside of school.
