Teaching methods
The aim of the course is to develop the student’s ability to act as mentor of another person and to promote the participants’ mentoring practices. Through mentoring, the student promotes the professional growth of the actor. Mentor acts as a professional sparring partner, sharing his/her own expertise. The mentoring training received during the course provides tools to stimulate and challenge the thinking of another person and to verbalise them through dialogue. In addition, the focus of the course is the reflection of your mentor role and the follow-up of development during the mentoring process.
The development of mentoring competence is reported by means of using suitable literature and reflecting it analytically to practice.

This course is linked to the mentoring programme of Savonia University of Applied Sciences and the University of Eastern Finland in spring 2023. During the spring of 2023, this course is available only for those who are mentors in the mentoring programme. In the autumn of 2023 the course can also be linked to other mentoring activities, e.g. in your work community.
