The degree title is Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering. The title of the degree in Finnish is called ympäristötekniikan insinööri (AMK). The study programme is 240 ECTS and the full-time studies take about 4 years.

The Environmental Engineering degree programme trains engineers to meet the needs of the growing and developing environmental sector.

The environmental sector offers a wide range of opportunities and jobs for students and engineers working in the sector. The tasks in the sector are varied and offer interesting challenges to those involved.

The curriculum for the Environmental Engineering degree is designed so that
- the degree produces the competence required in working life
- the education ensures the development of the student's expertise.

Toteutus

Savonia UAS's pedagogical approach is high-quality work-related education. Work-related education emphasizes students' motivation and commitment to their studies. Diverse virtual and physical environments in Savonia and at network partners' facilities both in Finland and abroad connect theory and practice in a broad and interesting way as part of student learning and organizational development.

In your studies as an Environmental Engineer, you will learn the basic skills that employers expect. The studies provide you with the skills to plan, measure, research, report, develop your own expertise, and act independently and as part of a team in a work community.

The studies provide you with expertise and insight into, among other things, water and waste management, environmental management in industry and communities, and residential environment design and service tasks.

Your learning environment is diverse. In addition to classrooms, the studies also include teaching in laboratories and in the field. You will learn special skills in a practical way, for example
- by measuring and assessing the state of the environment and industrial emissions
- by analysing measurement data using computational methods and geographic information systems
- by assessing environmental risks and operational responsibility, as well as carbon and environmental footprint calculations
- by controlling water treatment plants and analysing water samples, and
- by designing water supply networks and street infrastructure using professional software.

The assessment guides and checks the achievement of the learning objectives of your studies. The assessment targets the entire learning event, i.e. the achievement of the knowledge and skills in accordance with the teaching objectives, as well as the attitude and ability to take responsibility required for studies and working life. The assessment of study units is based on assessment criteria prepared for each study unit.

The approaches for teaching planning are up-to-date competence and development requirements. The education is planned, implemented, assessed and developed in cooperation with working life and the Hebei University of Environmental Engineering. Collaboration is based on open interaction, sharing knowledge and learning together.
