Osaamistavoitteet

The competence objectives include that the student receives basic information about the formation and composition of the soil and bedrock and the presence of groundwater. After completing the course, the student knows how the soil and bedrock are treated as a construction site or as a source of raw materials for building materials. The student knows the soil and rock classifications as well as the properties of soil types. The competence package also includes basic information on soil field and laboratory research methods for construction and environmental engineering needs. After completing the course, the student knows how to make groundwater observations, probe and sampling wells and geophysical surveys and what information they can be used to obtain soil. The student is familiar with the main regulations and instructions governing foundation construction. The student receives basic information about earth and rock formation and piling. Expertise is developed by studying drainage and frost protection methods in buildings and land areas.
