Learning objectives

The student is able to
- describe the required bodily structures and functions
- apply his or her knowledge to diagnostic examinations
- identify the relationship between bodily functions and diagnostic examinations
- explain the principles of radiation protection in nursing and diagnostic examinations

Content

Anatomy and physiology:
- nervous system, senses, endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, acid-base balance, reproductive systems
Diagnostic examinations:
- ECG, respiratory function tests, anthropometric measuring and acid-base balance tests
- the relationship between patient examination results and pathophysiology
- Medical imaging: plain radiography, CT (computed tomography), MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), ultra sound, nuclear medicine, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology

- orientation lecture
- mandatory participation in seminars and a tour to the University Hospital of Kuopio

Clinical physiology:
