Osaamistavoitteet

After completing the course, student is able to
- apply evidence-based gerontological nursing and home care skills and competence in a resource-oriented way to working at the client’s home and in home-style environments
- consider the importance of diversity, multiculturalism and life history in elderly people’s care, guidance and mentoring
- work according to ethical guidelines
- network and advise elderly people and their family members to use appropriate, also digital, social and health care and third sector services
- apply his or her rehabilitative nursing skills and competence when working as a patient’s responsible nurse
- explain the significance of multi-professional work in the promotion of functional ability and health
- explain nursing responsibilities and duties in the assessment and administration of safe medication therapy
- assess the effectiveness of the used medicaments, side effects, adverse reactions and drug interactions
- document correctly and use health records in compliance with data protection and data security instructions
- apply and master aseptic and ergonomic working methods in different environments
- apply and develop gerontological skills and competence in different environments, teams
- apply the use of technological solutions in care for the elderly
- guide and support relatives’ participation in nursing care respecting the patient’s views and resources
- reflect his of her own learning and competence
