Learning objectives

After completing the course, student is be able to
- apply ethical guidelines and legislation in various nursing situations and environments
- work to promote patient safety throughout all stages of the patient care process
- utilize electronic healthcare services as part of comprehensive patient care
- work in a patient-centered manner, taking into consideration the patient's strengths and needs in care and guidance situations, as well as acting as a representative of the patient and nursing in diverse workgroups
- administer common medication routes, provide medication guidance, assess the effectiveness of drugs used in patient care, evaluate medication side effects, adverse reactions, and interactions, and assess the entirety of medication management
- utilize patient information systems and document appropriately according to established guidelines
- make nursing decisions and justify them with reliable evidence-based information
- work in a multidisciplinary team according to their professional role
- assess their professional competence and receive constructive feedback
- have knowledge of preparedness plans for healthcare emergencies and exceptional situations in Finland

Content

Internship in various operational environments.
Patient-safe nursing, e-services, pharmacotherapy, emergency health care, contingency plans. Reflecting on one's own competence and developing feedback in internship.
YleSH (180 ECTS) exam (theory and medicine calculation test).

Qualifications

Mandatory professional studies from previous semesters according to the curriculum must be completed. Gerontological nursing and home care services -theory course must be completed according to the implementation plan. Internship: Gerontological nursing and home care services must be completed.
