Learning objectives

After completing the course, the student
- understands the importance of the nurse’s ethical guidelines and nursing values in his or her work
- understands the importance of evidence based practice
- explains the emergence of internal and oncological diseases, their symptoms, diagnostics and treatments, and care
- can assesses the client's nursing needs in different nursing situations and environments
- deepens his or her expertise in planning, implementing and assessing the treatment of internal medicine and cancer patients and document the process
- knows the importance of service guidance in a situation of a patients with long-term illnesses and their closed ones
- carry out nursing interventions
- can apply nutrition and physical activity treatment
- is familiar with the basics of the essential medical treatment of internal medicine and cancer patient.
- can provide resource-oriented mentoring for the patient’s self-care and lifestyle changes
- understands and pays attention to the importance of closed ones and friends at different stages of the patient’s disease
- can perform the required drug calculations accurately

Content

- evidence based decision-making process in nursing care and nutrition therapy of internal
medicine and cancer patients
- essential medical care and drug calculations
- psychosocial support for the client and the closed ones at different stages of the disease
- ethics and health promotion, the client’s active role in self-care
- the most common internal diseases and diagnostics
- documentation
- Infection prevention and control
- encountering a terminally ill or dying patient (basics of palliative care)

Nursing Assessment and Interventions theory and Clinical skills courses completed.
Internship: Nursing Assessment and Interventions Practice completed.
Basics of Pharmacological Treatment completed, and one set of drug calculations completed.

Internship in different nursing environments in hospitals, health centers. Participation in simulations(100%), seminars(100%) and workshops(100%). Assignments.
