Learning objectives

The student understands the significance of the mechanisms and structures of jewelry to its functionality and durability. The student knows the most common mechanisms and structures used in jewelry and can utilize them in their own design and manufacturing processes. The student knows the basic information about jewelry coatings.

Content

Mechanisms used in jewelry: locks, hinges, and chains.
Jewelry structures: sheet, wire, tube, and solid structures. Semi-finished products.
Jewelry coatings: silver plating, gilding, rhodium plating.
