Learning objectives

The student understands the basic principles of 3D-assisted design and its application areas in industrial design. The student can model three-dimensionally using various software and define the objectives of modeling. The student recognizes what kind of computer-assisted programs and methods can be used in product design and modeling of industrially manufactured products.

Content

Use of volume and surface modeling in product design. Parametric 3D modeling. Part modeling and use of assemblies in the design process. Considerations in the design of plastic and metal parts and 3D program tools for their modeling. Use of 3D printing to support product design. Product documentation and data transfer from 3D programs for visualization and various manufacturing techniques.
