Learning objectives

can define the concepts of immunohaematology
can explain the principles of immunohaematological studies
can conduct basic studies related to blood transfusion applying theoretical information and in accordance with the clinical laboratory test process
can apply the principles of quality management, occupational safety and patient safety in his or her work
knows the field-specific national and international information sources and practices
have an insight in the clinical applications of immunology in different fields in biomedical laboratory science

Content

antigens, antibodies and reactions between them in studies related to blood transfusion, blood group systems and blood group antibodies, blood products and their use, blood donation and blood safety, legislation and instructions, preparation for and guidance to blood transfusion studies, sampling, handling and storage, immunohaematological methods, devices and equipment, clinical applications of immunology in different fields in biomedical laboratory science
