Learning objectives

Upon completing the course, the graduate
- knows the structure and function of human immune system
- can define main principles of natural and required immunity
- can define the defects of immune system
- can explain the structure and function of antigens and antibodies
- knows the principles of the vaccination
- knows and can perform laboratory analyzes in the field of immunology
- can define the clinical meaning of the laboratory analyzes in patient care
- can apply the principles of quality management, occupational safety and patient safety in their work
- knows the field-specific national and international information sources
- has an insight in the principles of the radiation protection

Content

- Human immunological defense system: Natural and required immunity
- Defects in the immune system
- Structure and function of antigens and antibodies
- Vaccination and vaccination in Finland
- Immunological methods: principles, performance and evaluation of results
- Preanalytics of the immunological methods
- Administrative, structural and operational radiation protection
