Learning objectives

After completing the course, students will have the ability to

- respect human dignity and act in a way that does not violate human rights and without prejudice against the characteristics and world view of each individual (including age, culture, background, disability, gender, language, religion and sexual orientation)
- adjust working methods in the case of people with disabilities or oral cancer
in accordance with the specific characteristics related to the oral healthcare of such clients
- take into account the specific characteristics related to the oral healthcare of clients in mental health rehabilitation
- contribute to the basic care of patients
- take into account the specific characteristics of oral care when applied to tracheostomised intubated patients
- specific characteristics related to palliative oral care
communicate and act professionally when dealing with patients, their guardians or nurses,
and experts from different fields
- share their expert knowledge effectively orally, in writing and electronically
- assess the impact of oral health on a person's quality of life
- assess the risk factors related to an individual patient's oral health in relation to their general health
- tailor oral self-care methods to suit the needs of each patient
- evaluate the risks, benefits and limitations related to the oral self-care products available to patients
- operate in multidisciplinary (for example healthcare, social welfare) teams
