After the studes the student is able to
- apply the perioperative care process thinking to structuring oral surgery work
- follow the principles of asepsis when preparing the oral surgery care environment and when assisting in oral surgery
- identify the most common oral surgery procedures, instruments, equipment and other materials
- remove stitches and place surgical paste
- describe sampling and required instruments
- explain the pain management methods in oral health care
- implement surface-, gum pocket- and infiltration anesthetics
- describe local and general analgesia-related complications
- assume responsibility for safe medication in his or her area of responsibility
- prescribe medication needed in dental hygienist’s work
