Student:
- comprehends the dimensions of Human Security approach in the context of Climate Security
- comprehends and applies Human Security aims within a context of climate change, human rights, climate crisis, and United Nations’ sustainable development goals
- can produce the SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis for Human Security regarding multidisciplinary crisis cases caused by climate change

Sisältö

Course contains the essentials of Human Security approach, which is people-centered perspective of security promotion.

Toteutuksen kuvaus

This course is implemented as a non-stop online course including independent studies between 1.1.2025-31.7.2025. Course assignments are related to learning objectives and content to achieve essential knowledge in human security approach applied in student's own study field and working life.

The assignments required to complete the course can be returned at any time to the return folder in the course. There are altogether 3 alternative deadline days in the course to submit assignments. Assignments and course are graded within one month after deadline day. The studies completed during June and July will be evaluated in August.

Opiskelijan ajankäyttö

Total course workload is 135 hours. This is divided to independent studying of course material 50 hours and preparing assignments 85 hours.

Course content and assignments can be applied in student's own working life.

Oppimateriaali ja suositeltava kirjallisuus

The learning materials of the course include e.g. online materials in the learning environment, related articles, podcasts, videos, books, project plans and websites.

Lisätietoja opiskelijoille

The course fee is 75 euros for the open university of applied sciences students. Another option is an annual fee of 350 euros, which covers the tuition fees for the next 12 months at the Savonia open university of applied sciences.

Within a year of graduation form the Savonia degree, you can start your studies at Savonia Open UAS free of charge. The right to study lasts for one year.
