Learning objectives

The student is able to
- explain the child protection process as a whole and the obligations set for work by legislation
- give reasons for the involvement in child protection process to a child/youth and his or her family
- plan activities that are in the best interests of the child and support the child’s growth and development in cooperation with the child/youth’s immediate community
- describe after-care in line with the youth’s needs for independence
- apply professional work methods to support children, youth and families

Content

- essential legislation governing child protection
- child and family-specific child protection process: support measures of open-care, foster care, after-care
- documentation: client plan as well as plan for placement and upbringing
- work methods and practices
- multiprofessional cooperation
