Teaching methods

The student is able to:
- tell about his or her profession and work as well as daily life in versatile ways in Finnish
- notice the differences between spoken and written language and to use them in appropriate ways
- understand easy, topical news in media
- discuss about topical things and cultural differences
- write short, formal and informal texts e.g. in email
- outline the history of Finland and how the society has developed especially in the point of view of own profession
- reach the language level B1.1 in the professional context in writing, reading, listening and speaking

- time and conditional tenses of passive
- noun cases essive and translative

Vocabulary and phrases e.g. about
- Finnish history and society
- letters and emails
- home technology and tools
- professional environment and work
- sport.

Student workload

The course required 135 hours of work.
Independent study in Moodle in weeks 34 - 35.
Campus lectures in weeks 36 - 41.
Independent study weeks 42 - 48.
Exam in week 49.

Campus lectures are voluntary, but attendance will affect your grade.
