Learning objectives
After completing the course, the student:
- understands the importance of digitization and the opportunities to develop the green transition of the technology industry and sustainable business
- learns to apply and develop intelligent energy solutions in industry
- learns to identify, measure and develop resource efficiency and the recycling rate of materials
- learns to apply intelligent logistic solutions to manage material flows (raw materials, products, side streams and waste)
Content
This course is dealing with the most recent topics in the field of Digital Green processes of Technology Industries.
In the course, the student familiarizes himself with the following themes:
- Smart energy solutions
- Resource efficiency and reuse of raw materials
- Smart logistics
- Digital business models (service design and sharing platforms)
- Digital processes as part of sustainable business a) Public sector processes with principles promote customer orientation and cooperation, interoperability, reusability and quality of public administration b) technology industry perspective (e.g. CAD->PDM->ERP->CAM the importance of user choices of different digital tools to the circular economy)

Teaching methods
The course is studied online in the Moodle learning environment.
You can study the course independently at your own pace during the implementation period 1.9.2024 – 31.7.2025
The study includes familiarization with the materials, learning tasks and a learning diary.
The course is assessed based on learning tasks and the learning diary.
The course assignments must be completed/exam completed by 31.5.2025 at the latest.
The teacher assesses assignments/marks grades in the study register every four weeks.
Student workload
The workload of the course is approximately 135 hours of independent study.
Practical training and working life cooperation
The learning assignments are based on company's development tasks and preferably coming from student's employers if the student is working during the studies.
Materials
The learning materials of the course include online materials in the learning environment, related articles, podcasts, videos, books, project plans, websites.
Further information
The course fee is 75 euros for the open university of applied sciences students. Another option is an annual fee of 350 euros, which covers the tuition fees for the next 12 months at the Savonia open university of applied sciences.
Within a year of graduation form the Savonia degree, you can start your studies at Savonia Open UAS free of charge. The right to study lasts for one year.
