Changing climate is affecting everyone on earth and its sustainable development. This course deals with reliability of information sources on climate change, its basics, impacts, mitigation and adoption. What individual citizen, organization and society should do? The course introduces Human Security Approach and teaches how preliminary impact assessment of the planned measures can be done in student’s own work, hobby or life.

Greenhouse effect

Human Security Approach (people centered, true knowledge and impact assessment)
Prospective impact assessment of the measures, presentation of the method and exercise

100 % online course (Moodle)
- The course is open from 15 September 2022 to 31 July 2023 in the academic year 2022 - 2023. The assignments required to complete the course can be returned at any time to the return folder in the course and will be evaluated within three weeks of each return date.
- There are two return days in the autumn semester, three in the spring semester and one in the summer.
- The return dates are October 31, 2022, December 16, 2022, February 28, 2023, April 14, 2023, May 22, 2023 and July 31, 2023.
Requirements:
- Online study and online exam
- Submission of the assignment - a prospective impact assessment of the planned measures
Student workload
The student's total time use is 135 hours: 20 hours of familiarization with the background material, 15 hours of case study and 100 hours of processing their own assignment.
Practical training and working life cooperation
The course introduces Human Security Approach and teach how prospective impact assessment of the planned measures can be done in student’s own work, hobby or life.

Course fee for open UAS students is 75 euros.
The course is free if you are a 2nd level student (Finnish high school or vocational college), or you have completed your degree in Savonia UAS within a year.
