Future of Equine industry is IC-course will be kept in Iisalmi 5. -9.2.2024
Pre tasks include national team-presentations of Equine industry in Finland, Netherland and Portugal. The team-presentations will be kept online before the course (weeks 2-4). Also international teams will be built, as well as the subject of groupwork will be given.
During IC course short lectures will be given to facilitate the groupwork and deepen the knowledge about horses in cold climate
The subjects of lectures and groupworks are mentioned above:
* Biodiversity optimization in the yards of equine businesses.
• Decrease the ecological footprint of the equine sector.
• Social license to operate; public opinion has to be changed in favor of equine use, equine sector has to change to be excepted by the public.
• Influence of climate change on equine industry: diseases, food production, competition, husbandry
• One health
* Also lectures about horses in cold climate
Groupwork and presentations presentations (international groups) about Biodiversity, ecological footprint, social license to operate, influence of climate change and one health in equine sector.
Study visits: Equine research center, Vocational equine education center, Modern riding school, Equine based welfare center, “New wave” horse keeping entrepreneur, racetrack, pony club and breeding association.
