Teaching methods

Goals:
You will learn to recognise your own strengths and development areas in studying and planning your studies. You know what kind of study opportunities there are and how to apply for degree programmes. You will learn what kind of study skills and digital competence are needed in higher education and how to also develop these skills on your own. You can operate in the digital operating environments of education and utilise cloud services for processing and sharing information. You will gain a better understanding of the Finnish society and culture, which reduces the risk of misunderstandings, and helps you to start integrating and leading an active life in Finland.  

Contents:
In this course, you will get to know Finnish society and culture, as well as the higher education system and higher education institutions as a learning environment. You will also learn about various study and assessment techniques and digital tools and practice using them. You will participate in career counselling and plan your future study path. 

Methods of completing the course:
This course contains four parts: Higher Education Study Skills, Finnish Society and Culture, Digital Skills, Study Counselling. To get a passing grade you need to complete all four parts of this course.
Successful completion of the course requires participation in Zoom classes and the completion of mandatory assignments.

Student workload

It takes approximately 162 hours to complete the course. The course includes Zoom lessons and independent study.
