Teaching methods

The course covers the following areas of mathematics

- the basics of differential calculus of functions of one and/or more variables,
- the basics of integral calculus,
- integral calculus applications (area, volume of a solid of revolution, length of a curve, etc.),
- numerical methods (rectangular, trapezoidal and Simpson's method).

Teaching takes place in the classroom.

Alternative implementation methods

Individual students have the opportunity to take the course as a classroom test if necessary.

Student workload

The workload of the course is 5 credit hours x 26 2/3 h/credit hour = 133 h. The student's own share is 133 h - 56 h = 77 h. During this time, the student can do both practice tasks and exam tasks prepared for the course's Moodle learning platform. By completing assignments, the student gets a grade for the course.

Qualifications

Mathematics 1

Materials

- Moodle learning platform materials
- Croft, Davison, Hargreaves: Engineering Mathematics

Further information

The practice and examination tasks of the course are done entirely on the Moodle learning platform. Traditional midterm exams or final exams conducted in the classroom are not organized for the entire student group. Of course, an individual student has the opportunity to take the course as a classroom test as well, if necessary.

On the Moodle learning platform, the student can find the course

1) Practice tasks, the number of attempts of which is almost unlimited. The weighting factor for the exercises is 30 % in the evaluation of the entire course.

2) Examination tasks, the number of attempts of which varies between 1 and 5, depending on the question type. Computational tasks always 5 execution times. The weighting factor of the test assignments is 70 % in the evaluation of the entire course.

Grades

45 % = 1

55 % = 2

65 % = 3

75 % = 4

85 % = 5

The student can keep up-to-date with the progress in the evaluation book of the Moodle learning platform.
