Teaching methods

Contact lessons, individual/group assignments, independent studying, exam.

The English language part of the course (3,5 cr) will be assessed on a scale of 0-5, whereas the Intercultural Communication part (1,5 cr) will be assessed as pass/fail. Both parts have to be completed.

During the course, through versatile learning methods, the students will develop their oral and written skills in English and in multicultural communication situations so that after completing the course they are able to

- use English in their work at the level required
- tell about their working environment and duties
- interview and guide, mentor and care for different clients
- use essential professional vocabulary and source books
- identify cultural differences and describe the special features of their own culture
- understand the impact of culture on communication

Student workload

135 hours= 5 credits consisting of two parts as follows:

-English language: a total of 94,5 hours consisting of contact lessons, individual/group assignments, independent studying, exam (1 h)

and

-Intercultural communication: a total of 25,5 hours
