Teaching methods
In this course you will learn...
- the basic concepts of research and differing research methodologies
- critical interpretation of research results, which makes you prepared to resolve research questions
- to understand the significance of statistics in empirical research
- learn to use statistical programmes in research work (Webropol and Excel)
- you learn to utilise research data in your own professional area
You will learn all this by listening lectures, self studying, participating in discussions and doing a research project in a small group.
Tasks on the course are:
- description of research project (group work)
- reading a scientific article (individual work)
- research project: research plan (50%), report and presentation (50%)
- self evaluation
Student workload
Total 81 hours (1 credit is approximately 27 hours work, 3 cr * 27h)
- Introduction to course. 2 hours.
- Lectures about making research, analysing results and writing a report. 6 hours.
- Workshops for research planning, analysing and reporting. 24 hours.
- Understanding reasearch (individual task studying a scientific article). 8 hours.
- Doing research (group work, individual work, reading materials etc.). 41 hours.
Practical training and working life cooperation
You will do a research project to company or organisation. Project is a group work. Group needs to keep regular contact with the company/organisation.

We can discuss about good additional materials during lectures and workshops.
