The student
- applies evidence-based gerontological nursing and home care skills and competence in a resource-oriented way to working at the client’s home and in home-style environments.
- considerer the importance of diversity, multiculturalism and life history in elderly people’s care,
guidance and mentoring.
- works according to ethical guidelines.
- networks and advises elderly people and their family members to use appropriate, also digital, social and health care and third sector services.
- applies his or her rehabilitative nursing skills and competence when working as a patient’s
responsible nurse.
- understands the significance of multi-professional work in the promotion of functional ability and health.
- understands nursing responsibilities and duties in the assessment and administration of safe
medication therapy.
- is able to assess the effectiveness of the used medicaments, side effects, adverse reactions and drug interactions.
- is able to document correctly and use health records in compliance with data protection and data security instructions.
- masters aseptic and ergonomic working methods in different environments.
- is able to apply and develop gerontological skills and competence in different environments, teams and in the development of virtual home visits.
- guides and supports relatives’ participation in nursing care respecting the patient’s views and resources.
- is able to reflect his of her own learning and competence.

Esitietovaatimukset

Nursing Assessment and Interventions, Nursing Assessment and Interventions –Clinical skills,
Medical Nursing, Internship: Medical nursing practice, Anatomy, Physiology and Basics of
Diagnostics 1 and 2, Basics of Pharmacotherapy. The theoretical studies have to be completed or at least started before the beginning of internship.
