Osaamistavoitteet

After completing the course, the student is able to
- apply ethical guidelines and legislation when operating in different nursing situations and operating environments
- work to promote patient safety at all stages of the patient care process
- use eHealth services as part of the patient's overall care
- work in a client-oriented manner, taking into account the patient's resources and needs in treatment and guidance situations, and act as a representative of the patient and nursing in different working groups
- master usual methods of drug administration, pharmacotherapy guidance and is able to assess the effectiveness of medicines used in the patient's treatment, as well as the adverse effects, side effects and interactions of medicines and to evaluate the pharmacotherapy as a whole
- use the patient information system and document appropriately in accordance with agreed instructions
- make nursing decisions and justify their decisions with reliable evidence-based information
- work in accordance with their own professional role in a multidisciplinary working group
- assess their professional competence and receive developmental feedback
- and knows the contingency plans for special health care situations and emergency conditions in Finland

Patient-safe nursing, e-services, pharmacotherapy, emergency health care, contingency plans. Reflecting on one's own competence and developing feedback. YleSH (180 ECTS) exam (theory and medicine calculation test).

Esitietovaatimukset

Compulsory professional studies scheduled for the previous semesters in the curriculum must be completed, but this course can be completed before Paediatric and Family Nursing Practice course (Additionally, simulations of Paediatric and Family Nursing Practice course must be completed).
Theory studies of Gerontological Nursing and Home Care Services must be ongoing according to student´s own group curriculum. Gerontological Nursing and Home Care Services Practice must be completed. Developing Nursing Competencies internship can be completed before the course’s simulations and skill labs.
