Upon completing the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the structures and stakeholders of the hospitality industry, along with key actors.
- Differentiate between various business concepts and their operational principles.
- Define the key concepts of customer experience and customer understanding, and comprehend their significance in hospitality industry services.
- Understand the essential regulations of alcohol legislation.
- Understand the fundamentals of food hygiene.

Teaching methods

The course combines contact lessons, visiting experts from industry and company visits. The primary teaching language is English. Essential vocabulary and phrases relevant to the restaurant and catering sector and alcohol legislation are also going to be learned in Finnish.

The course consists of introductory lectures, interactive workshops, group work, exams and written assignments.

Assessment Methods: Group assignment and exams.

Evaluation scale: 0-5

Assessment on exam (40%) and group assignment & presentation (60%).
