Learning objectives

The student masters the dimensioning and stiffening of the structures of wooden frame apartment buildings.

Content

- Use of wood in apartment building construction, architecture, building physics, fire safety, sound insulation
- Building technology, energy and resource efficiency, carbon footprint, wood surface treatment, maintenance and service
- Construction of a wooden apartment building, construction site technology

Structural calculations for wooden apartment buildings:
- Wooden apartment building frame operation, frame systems
- Function of structures assembled from elements as stiffening and load-bearing structures, dimensioning of anchoring of stiffening walls
- Dimensioning of frame structures, dimensioning of frame, CLT and LVL structures

Connection techniques:
- Application of pin connection theory
- Screw and angle plate connections
- Joints between CLT and LVL structures
- computer program: FemDesign3dStructure program
