Learning objectives

The student is able to

- apply the perioperative care process thinking to structuring oral surgery work
- follow the principles of asepsis when preparing the oral surgery care environment and when assisting in oral surgery
- identify the most common oral surgery procedures, instruments, equipment and other materials
- remove stitches and place surgical paste
- describe sampling and required instruments
- explain the pain management methods in oral health care
- give surface-, gum pocket- and infiltration analgesias
- describe local and general analgesia-related complications
- assume responsibility for safe medication in his or her area of responsibility
- prescribe medication needed in dental hygienist’s work

Active participation in contact lessons TS24SP and active watching of Zoom-recordings (for 14 days) TS24SPE, skills workshop exercises (anesthesia exercises 100% presence, nursing practices 100% presence), learning assignments and exams
